It’s a pleasure to have you visit the blog, while you’re here I’ll share the reason for its creation
My partner, John is gluten sensitive and since moving in together almost 3 years ago learning how to make gluten free foods has been a bit of a challenge. I truly thought we’d never have a “normal” diet again, especially with how prevalent the use of wheat and barley are in food manufacturing. Then it hit me, it’s really not that difficult after all especially once you realize that you’re not all that limited.
The gluten free food selection has grown exponentially over the past couple of years, I will be the first to admit that not all of the options are appetizing. Finding good quality gluten-free /friendly foods and brands requires a bit of trial and error because not everyone’s tastes are the same. Try to source a variety of gluten free foods can be pretty difficult especially if you live in a rural area or have a limited budget. Most of our packaged gluten free products are purchased from Thrive Market , with our favorite being the King Arthur Fudge Brownie Mix. They also sell a lot of other pantry staples like organic peanut butter, gluten free soy sauce, and GF ramen to name a few.
Now, I know no one wants to be constantly eating prepared foods out of a box. So then began my journey to learn how to cook tasty meals that I would be more than proud to serve people without them immediately knowing it’s gluten free (IYKYK). Not all of my recipes will be gluten free but most should at least be adaptable to a gluten-free diet so that they can be enjoyed by the masses.
My ultimate goal is to impower people to cook more homemade meals while not forgetting that some convivence foods are essential while going through certain seasons in life. Making gluten-free / friendly foods doesn’t always have to be super complicated requiring a thousand and one ingredients, it may just require some time and the willingness to learn.
